Chapter Philanthropy and Service
Our philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness is the most important part of our chapter. Our fundraising chairs and philanthropy committee work effortlessly to put together various fundraisers and events to promote Breast Cancer Education and Awareness throughout Towson and our community.
ZTA has trademarked the 'THINK PINK' saying which we use to raise awareness during October; Breast Cancer Education and Awareness Month. In the past, we have worked with Susan G. Komen, and we have participated in the Hunt Valley Race for the Cure to volunteer and cheer on the survivors. Our current THINK PINK partners are American Cancer Society, National Football League, and Bright Pink. In previous years, we have participated in the Making Strides walk for the American Cancer Society, focusing on survivor recognition. We also attend Ravens’ and Redskins’ NFL football games to pass out THINK PINK ribbons, calendar stickers and shower cards. With Bright Pink, we use our platform to educate and empower our members to be advocates for women's cancer and their own health.
Each year we take the month of October to spread Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. In October of 2017 we hosted out first annual Pink Up The Pace 5k here on Towson University's campus. During our second annual 5k, we raised over $11,000 for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness! We have also attended the ACS walk in Baltimore, in efforts to make strides against breast cancer and to honor survivors and those who have passed from breast cancer. In October we also attend NFL games (Redskins and Ravens) to hand out ribbons, we ribbon around campus, and host various tabling events. October is our favorite time of the year, and we couldn't be more excited to continue to spread awareness and educate about breast cancer!
